TimelineThe Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum Begins Production With Andy Serkis Back in Middle-earth
Production is underway in New Zealand on The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum. Andy Serkis directs and reprises Gollum, with Ian McKellen, Elijah Wood and Lee Pace returning and Kate Winslet, Jamie Dornan, Leo Woodall and Anya Taylor-Joy joining the cast. Peter Jackson, Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens reunite as producers. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema will release the film in theaters December 17, 2027.
Scheduled to open in theaters 2027-12-17.
