Halloweentown 5 - In Development at Disney (10/22/2026)

Disney is returning to Halloweentown. A fifth film in the Disney Channel franchise is in early development for Disney Channel and Disney+, TheWrap reported October 22, with PEOPLE and Entertainment Weekly confirming. Lily Houghton (Forbidden Fruits) and Ryan Koehn (Gossip Girl) are developing the script, based on the characters created by Paul Bernbaum, who wrote the original 1998 film. Plot details are under wraps and no casting is confirmed. The franchise began in 1998 with Kimberly J. Brown as Marnie Piper and Debbie Reynolds as Aggie Cromwell, and continued with Halloweentown II: Kalabar's Revenge (2001), Halloweentown High (2004) and Return to Halloweentown (2006), which recast Marnie with Sara Paxton. Brown has said over the years that she would return if asked. The new film arrives 20 years after the last installment, backed by the franchise's streaming endurance: Disney says the four films have racked up 160 million hours streamed on Disney+ worldwide, with the original ranking among the service's top 10 most-watched Halloween movies last October. No director or release date has been announced.
